Enduring

I haven’t seen it, yet, but things are going well.
The absence bears down on me like the moon over Krakow.

Steaks on the grill make hair on the head smell of summer,
a calf’s burning diaper.

A pirate’s mixture of rum and the highway left me in search of sea.
The fifth dimension of hell surfaces a black hole of sound.

The sun has set, memories buried, inhibitions burned right
before someone yells, “Happy New Year!”

The Wonders of ebay

Man, I've really been selling a lot of shit on ebay. Most of it stuff I really didn't want to get rid of, but since I need the cash and never again want to move as much shit as I did when I moved here, it had to go. You gotta love a global garage sale that has people bidding up your goods at the last minute. I've made about $2,000 in the past 2 1/2 months give or take a couple hundred. I still have more to get rid of!

On a seperate note, if anyone is going to be up here on the 15th Tobias Wolff will be at the Highland Park Public Library reading and taking questions.

I've got the Block

I don't know if it's the weather or still getting used to Chicago and not having my "area" for writing set up yet, but not much writing is going on. Any suggestions?

On a different note, Jack Gilbert's "After Love" is in the new New Yorker. Just thought I'd throw that out there.
